The great planted tank pioneer Takashi Amano brought these fish to the aquarium hobby, and eventually the shrimp acquired his name for their own. 

Amano shrimp are wild caught in the highlands of Taiwan. Fortunately we also have a breeder in Taiwan to supplement our inventory during monsoon season.
